Houston at Philadelphia --> At first blush it is hard not to take the Texans as a big underdog, as this is a team that thrives on the close game, although in the past they have found more ways to lose SU than to win outright. Stiil, for ATS purposes this penchant for close games is good, and it is not an accident that the Texans are 6-0 ATS since 2008 when an underdog of six or more points, while only winning two of those games SU. Also, Eagles not a great favorite, only going 2-4 ATS in their last six home fav roles of six or more. That information points to a play on the road team, but note that they are travelling on a short week and playing in their third road game in four weeks, a tough scheduling stretch. Finally, research shows that Thursday Night home favorites of six or more are an incredible 15-2 ATS of late overall and on an 11-1 ATS dozen game run. That makes sense since the heavily favored team is the better squad, and more talented teams tend to react better to shorter weeks and the distractions such a week brings. It is clear a good case can be made for both teams in this one, and we will NOT be having a star rated play on this. However, still the overall lean is to take the road team, as this shapes up as less than a TD game to this set of eyes. Would lean towards the Over as well, but the same trend that is 15-2 ATS to the Eagles is 0-7 ATS to the Under of late, so just the smallest of opinions on the Under. We are not "numbers only" guys - far from it - but 15-2 and 7-0 are worthy of taking pause, so these plays stay as opinions. We are coming off a great weekend on the gridiron, going 4-0 on Saturday - winning our 7* College Game of the Year in the process - and going 2-0 on Sunday. This week it looks like we are having BOTH our Sunday Night Game of the Year and our Monday Night Game of the Year! We are 5-0 this season on Sunday Night and 54-22 (71%) on SNF over the last seven years! Have a Great Day! |
