This Thursday night, the Florida State Seminoles and North Carolina Tarheels square off in an ACC showdown. This team is between two of the lesser teams in the ACC and they are pretty evenly matched. Florida State comes in at 2-4 on the season and have been surrounded by talk of firing Bobby Bowden all season. Now they’re talking about keeping him around as a figurehead and letting his assistant coach take over everything. As far as Free College Football Picks go anytime your team is surrounded in controversy, it is hard to prepare for games. This fact shows in their less than stellar record on the year. North Carolina comes in at 4-2 on the season although they are yet to beat a very good team. Teams like The Citadel and Georgia Southern fill their win column while they’ve lost to Georgia Tech and Virginia. Carolina is a pretty talented team and are coached well. So if they play up to their ability, they should be more than Florida State can handle. However, things rarely go as planned in ACC football. Despite not beating any quality opponents yet, the Tarheels do bring in one of the best defenses in the country. They are ranked #2 in the country in yards allowed per game. They are also ranked #1 against the pass. Anytime you can rank that highly in the entire country in anything, you know that is something you can lean on. Their defense should be able to stop the Seminoles offense for most of the night. Florida State has a pretty good quarterback in Christian Ponder. His 1781 yards and 9 touchdowns on the season is good enough for a 149.4 quarterback rating. When you put a good quarterback up against the #1 passing defense in the country, something is going to have to give. This matchup should be fun to watch.
