Welcome to another exciting College Football season and we here at Great Lakes Sports will give our Mountain West Conference
predictions, and as always good luck this season from Great Lakes Sports.

1. TCU-  The Horned Frogs are loaded this year with fourteen returning starters this year five on offense, and nine back on defense led by defensive standout DE Tommy Blake, this will be the second straight road game when the Horned Frogs travel to Air Force for a Thursday night encounter. We look for the experience, and the strong defense carry TCU to the MWC title.

2. BYU-  The Cougars just keep on reloading with the loss of John Beck the Cougars will turn to Sophomore QB Max Hall. The Cougars return six starters on offense, and seven starters back on defense, BYU are led by a solid pair of wide outs in Junior Michael Reed, and Sophomore Austin Collie. The Cougars Collie is back from a mission, and was freshman player of the year. We look for the BYU Cougars to challenge TCU for the MWC Title.

3. Wyoming- The Cowboys is my sleeper pick in the MWC conference this year, as they return seven offensive starters, and five defensive starters. The Cowboys are led by Sophomore QB Karsten Sween who threw for over 1,300yds as a freshman while completing 60% of his passes. We look for the Cowboys offense to be running on all cylinders, and could make some noise in the Mountain West Conference.

4. Utah- The Utes should be down a little bit this years, as they are 0-2 after getting upset by Air Force last week, and will host the UCLA Bruins this week. The Utes have almost everybody back from last year 8-5 team, and will also have a healthy QB in junior Brian Johnson for the first time in two years. The Utes have only had six returning starters on defense which could be their downfall. We look for a fourth place finish for the Utah Utes.

5. Colorado State- The Rams are 0-2 this year for head coach Sonny Lubick’s teams, coming off a tuff loss to California. The Rams return nine offensive starters, and nine defensive starters led by senior QB Caleb Hanie who threw for over 2,400yds last year, and completing 61% of his passes. The Rams also will have a healthy Kyle Bell who was injured all of last year. The Rams on defense have a solid front four, and an average LB corp, We look for a fifth place finish for Colorado State, and if the could stay healthy a possible bowl berth.

6. New Mexico-The Lobos have a lot of experience coming back this year with eight starters back on offense, and ten starters back on defense. The Lobos will not beat by their offense; they will beat you with their stellar defense giving up only 118yds per game on the ground last year. We look for New Mexico to struggle with their offense this year, and will finish sixth in the Mountain West Conference.

7. Air Force- The Falcons are coming off a huge upset over conference rival Utah last week, and now will host a very tough TCU team who will key on senior QB Shaun Carney, and their triple offense. The Falcons were outscored 38-14 last year against TCU, and only putting up only 142 total yds. The Falcons have six starters back on offense, and six starters back on defense. We look for the Falcons to have their problems this year, and finish seventh.

8. UNLV- The Rebels will look to improve from a dismal 2-10 season last year with eight starters back on offense, and six starters back on defense led by highly touted QB Rocky Hinds there is light at the end of the tunnel for third year coach Mike Sanford. The Rebels will take another year to gel, but will see some improvement by the end of the season. We look for the UNLV Rebels to finish eighth in the Mountain West Conference.

9. San Diego State- The Aztecs still will have their problems this year for second year coach Chuck Long, as they are coming off a dismal 3-9 record. The Aztecs have nine starters back on offense, and only four starters back on defense which used to be the cornerstone of the Aztecs team. The Aztecs will have a healthy Kevin O’Connell who was injured most of last year. We look for the inexperience of the San Diego State’s defense to be their major problem this year, and we see the San Diego State Aztecs to finish ninth this year.

This is Great Lakes Sports Mountain West Conference College Football Preview for the 2007-2008 season and good luck this up coming Football season.
