TOM SCOTT'S ANGLE OF THE WEEK Let's take a look at college teams who are playing in their fourth game of the season with this exact scenario. Our team lost its season opener, came back to win game two, then fell on their faces in game three. In other words, a 1-2 team off exactly one loss. This emotional roller coaster ride can have two different effects in game four. The team can be down after falling below .500 again or it can rear up and put out an intense effort to get back to an even record. Of course, we looked deep into our 27 year database to see if there is any edge for these teams. There is. When that 1-2 team goes on the conference road, it usually is revved up for a supreme effort, especially when it is coming off a narrow loss (by 13 or less points). That idea gives us this week's angle and a play. Put this one in your system book for future reference: PLAY ON any college road team in Game Four of the season if he is 1-2 SU and is off exactly one loss if that loss was by 13 or less and this is a conference game. 26 Year ATS = 22-6 This week's play = ARIZONA plus the points over California |
