Without good information, your luck only goes so far and you have to be dead on with your numbers, analysis and information to last over 20 years as I have making a very nice living on my wagers.
Definitely picking winners is the first key, without those you won't need to worry about part 2....money management.
Once you are able to pick consistent winners, the next key is money management. A true sharp like myself lives by this motto "ALWAYS get the mans cash".
You have to minimize your losses, maximize your gains. One way to do that is knowing how to lose. No matter how good you get at picking winners...you will lose games, days, even weeks at a time. You have to know how to lose...meaning you stick to your plan, to your top stuff, the biggest plays and if you lose you lose. No getting mad and firing out plays all over the board assuming you are due to win , no emptying your bankroll on a ton of games assuming you are"too good", "too smart" or that you know more than Vegas....if you think that you're a mark and will lose everything eventually. EVERYONE loses....I use Walters as a reference alot since the general public regard him as some guy who never loses, wrong. I have seen Billy lose for a month straight like an amateur, couldn't hit water if he fell out of the boat. What does he do? He keeps plugging away with what he knows works, knowing in time he will pull out and be way ahead again. And usually he's right, and ends up way ahead by seasons end.
You have to accept losing if you ever plan to be a winner. Period.
Get the Cash:
No matter what, you always get the mans money. What do I mean by that?
Real simple, guys I pay my bills, buy my cars, pay for my condo here in Panama City Florida off my winnings....meaning when I win, I have to walk away with the cash. Just a few words about that.
A: If i am up huge saturday afternoon....suddenly all those night games I only halfway liked or had no opinion on are begging for my money, those games that were not a solid play at 10 am do not magically become winners at 6pm just because i swept all my early games. DO NOT bet a game late in the day just because you are up hugee, seen too many times guys get hot early, and by the end of the last game they do not have cab fare left in their pockets. No chasing allowed.
B:If I'm up big going into Sunday....there are no can't lose locks on the Sunday card. Simply put, its very difficult to do what I do, no scalping, middling, chasing lines...I bet the 11/10 to win and I'm damn good at it. So, if i am up strong after saturday, I scale back my wagers on sunday, even playing some to the other sides to cut back my exposure. If I roll thru the 1pm NFL games, even if I had a Max Bet going later....I scale it down. theres only one way to make a living doing this, and its by securing profits, getting paid weekly by taking down the money. not saying I would not bet my 4pm games, but if I am locked into a big winning week, I'm not gambling on giving it all back if i lose a few late.
No matter how good you are, you have to minimize losing periods, maximize wins and always secure profits and take down the cash.
