This Friday night, two Big East football powers will square off when Cincinnati and West Virginia take the field. The Bearcats are 9-0 and hoping to ride a few more wins to the National Championship game. The Mountaineers are 7-2 and were nationally ranked recently as well. There should be some good football played in this one. Last year, the Bearcats had their lowest offensive output of the year against the Mountaineers and still managed to win. Will they be able to keep things going again this year? The Bearcats have a bit of a quarterback controversy on their hands. They started the season out with Tony Pike at quarterback. All he did was throw for 15 touchdowns and 3 interceptions to merit some serious Heisman consideration. Then he went down with an injury and sophomore quarterback Zach Collaros came in and has played unbelievable. In three games, he has thrown for almost 1100 yards with 8 touchdowns and no interceptions. On top of that, he has ran for a few touchdowns and yards as well. He is scheduled to start in this one even though Pike will get to play a little bit to get his feet wet again. Regardless of who is in at quarterback, the Bearcats offense will be very hard to contain for the Mountaineers. West Virginia is coming off of a tough win against Louisville last weekend. During the game they lost two of their best players in quarterback Jarrett Brown and runningback Noel Devine. Devine is one of the best running backs in the country while Brown has been a great leader at the quarterback position. They are optimistic that both players will be able to go in this game. The big question though is whether or not the Mountaineer defense can stack up to the vaunted Cincinnati offense. Vernon Croy's EPIC 9-1 90% Football Run continues Saturday so get on it now! |
