We of course feel that sports handicapping, like successful stock market management, is an endeavor of skill, and that those with the best set of skills will make the best decisions, and therefore cash the most tickets. However, to ignore the luck factor would be foolish, and our results this past weekend show that extremely well. We always say that luck evens out over the course of a season, but in this case the luck evened out over the course of about 20 hours.

We will start on Saturday. We were 5-2-1 (or 6-2 if you got +14.5 on Minnesota) on Saturday and are now 21-10 on College Football Direct Service Plays this season. This past week our TOP PLAY needed no "luck" as Ohio State simply dominated Northwestern and the outcome was never in doubt. That is back to back weeks of Super Easy Wins for our TOP PLAY OF THE WEEK, and this week we expect another as we are releasing Our First 7* of the Season, our 7* COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAME OF THE MONTH!

Now for the good luck. We had the Under in the South Carolina/LSU game as our College Totals Play of the Week, and the total was 45.5. Late in the game with the Tigers leading 28-10, South Carolina got a TD and, for some reason only Steve Spurrier knows, opted to go for two when all the coaching charts clearly say kicking the extra point - and thereby still being down only a TD & a FG instead of two TD"S - is the right play. Still, the Ol Ballcoach decided to go for it, and a conversion meant the game went Over and a miss kept it Under. In the end the LSU defense prevailed, the game stayed Under, getting us and our Direct and Online clients a win.

Things turned on Sunday, as the Jets (-3) were our NFL Play of the Month. They completely dominated the game and led by ten with less than two minutes to play before the Dolphins went on a long garbage time drive, converting on fourth down twice, and scored the TD, giving us a push. Had one of those 4th downs gone our way it would have been a big winner for everyone, but as it was in ended up a push, and the luck had clearly shifted. We would have rather lost the college game and won the pro, since the Jets were the higher rated play, but in the long run we know these things happen, and will not get too high or too low when, not if, they happen again. As we said at the start of this article, this is an endeavor of skill, but do not forget to thank the football gods when things go your way!

The title of this article is "Good Luck, Bad Luck, I Suck, and PUCKS!!" I have dealt with the Good and the Bad, now for the rest!

On Sunday we (and really I, Bill Milton, since I am the NFL capper of the group) had a rather strong play on the Bears over the Cowboys. In my analysis of the game I had the following to say: "Please, please spare us the talk of a dominating Dallas offense. If they hang 30 here we will be convinced, but scoring 45 at home against a bad, and injured, Giants defense does not impress us." Yep, that play SUCKED, so consider me sufficiently impressed! I had that game as wrong as could be, and Triple Threat is built on honesty, and as such I wanted to take this moment to say I am sorry to all clients, as I struckout on that one in a big way. Please accept this Mea Culpa.

Finally, PUCKS!

In the past the start of the hockey season has meant little to us, but since I am out in Vegas now I have made a multitude of contacts, and - just like we added an NBA capper two years ago when our clients asked - we have now added an NHL capper to the Triple Threat team. Dave Sharp played college hockey, follows the game religiously, and has worked as a bookmaker offshore and in a sportsbook here in Vegas for most of the last 12 years! He is as sharp as his last name suggests, and I know he is going to provide Frozen Pond winners for Triple Threat clients for years to come. The season starts in less than a week, so for you puck fans make sure you check out your NEW source for NHL winners, Triple Threat Sports!!!

Finally, since we are branching out I wanted to take a quick minute to reintroduce everyone to the staff of Triple Threat:
Bill Milton. This is me. I do the writing for the team and serve as the Chief Handicapper, having the final say on all plays. My specific areas of handicapping are the NFL and College Basketball.

Joe Patterson: Joe is the College Football Handicapper of the bunch - yep he is the one responsible for the 21-10 start to the College Football Season! He also handles the Arena Football League, since in his job as college capper he knows a great deal about the NFL fringe players and newly graduated college kids making up AFL rosters.

Mike Bannister: "Mr. Baseball!" - He is conservative but GOOD, and is on 3-0 and 24-11 runs in The Show. THIS SUNDAY is his MLB Game of the Year. He has been waiting all season for this game on the final day of the season, and you will see why once it is an EASY WINNER!

John Therpan He is the NAB Capper for Triple Threat that was responsible for that just ridiculously great postseason when we went 14-2 last year!

Finally, the newbie, Dave Sharp, our NHL capper that I talked about above and we are thrilled to have on board.

Our goal remains the same, to provide our customers with the plays of a specialist while, with a large staff, providing winners in a wide array of sports.

That will do it for now, thanks for your time, make sure you join us this weekend, and of course, GOOD LUCK!!!
