No star rated plays for us on today's card, but that does not mean we will not have a little action at our favorite sportsbook here in Vegas. (By the way, our favorite is the Tropicana, but that is an article for another time.) The piece below deals with today's football game, and also gives you reasoning for a NICE UNDERDOG BASEBALL PARLAY!

This football game is a puzzler. Baylor is better than they are given credit for this year, but just cannot ignore what ULM has done the last two weeks. If this game was in Baylor and the Bears were laying 14 or less we would be on them with a star rated play, as we like this bunch and feel that, at some point, ULM has to come back to earth. However, with this game being at home, on national TV, maybe, just maybe, Monroe has one more shocker in them. We pass.

MLB:
Think that there are two live dogs today. The Cubs are taking on the Cardinals and Chris Carpenter, who is making his first start of the season, is on a pitch count, and just has to be rusty after not having pitched since October 2011. Also, he was only 11-9 in the regular season a year ago. Chicago starter Volstad has not been great, to be sure, but he has been doing enough to get wins his last two starts. Not going to star rate this since Cards ARE the better team, but it makes sense to put this in a small parlay with.....

....The Oakland A's. The Athletics ended their losing streak yesterday with a win in Detroit, scoring 12 runs in the process. Today they send Jerrod Parker to the hill, and he has posted a 2.14 ERA in his last three starts. On the other hand CC Sabathia has a 5.40 ERA in his last three outings, with the Yanks being 0-3 in those games; Sabathia taking two of the losses. He also has just an 11-13 career Team Start record against Oakland, and also note that - amazingly - the Yankees are only 13-11 at home this year as chalk of this range. With that said, NY back on a winning streak, and that is to be respected, so this is not star rated either, but a parlay on these two dogs makes sense, and could make a lot of dollars and cents if it comes in.

Have a Great Day
