Preseason News and Notes - Thursday August 7th by: Triple Threat Sports 2 008-08-07 Five games are on the preseason docket today, and here is a quick QB rotation and technical trend guide to today's game. We have a big time winner on the ESPN game tonite, so make sure to JOIN US!!! Giants at Lions: Super Bowl champs are 3-2-1 ATS in first preseason game the next year, and Lions are 0-3 ATS as preseason home fav for Marinelli. Giants do have an injury cluster at WR. No QB rotation released for Giants (NY media all consumed by Favre trade), while Kitna and starters will go about ten plays for Detroit. Jets at Browns: Both coaches are Belichick/Parcells disciples, and thus both have solid preseason records (Mangino 5-2 L/7, Crennel 8-4). Browns are 3-0 SU & ATS in preseason home openers, but have won by just 3,4, and 4 points. With Pennington's release, Erik Ainge and Brett Ratliff will get a lot of time for Jets today, and Browns are 0-3 to the Under in Week One for Crennel. Ravens at Patriots: Boller will start for Ravens, but top draftee Flacco will play, as will Troy Smith. It looks like Brady will sit this one out, as he did in last year's preseason opener. Pats have outscored foes by a 122-50 score at home in NFLX the last two years. Chiefs at Bears: Perhaps the most telling game of the night, as KC will play starters much longer than Edwards has in the past, and Bears are going to go with starters for probably the entire first half. Brodie Croyle and Tyler Thigpen will play the 1H at QB for Kansas City, with Huard (starter last year) playing the 3Q. Chiefs are 0-4 ATS as away dog in preseason for Edwards while Bears are just 2-5 ATS as preseason HF for Smith.
