Of course we are primed for a GREAT day of College Football, but there is another New Years Day tradition that we truly enjoy as well, and that is the NHL's Winter Classic. Every year we tab our own hockey guru, Vegas institution Dave Sharp, for his play on the Classic. Dave has a great wit and showed it off in his emails to us about this game....which we will share in its entirety!

Bill: Dave, looking forward to your insight on the Classic again this year...what do you think?

Dave: I will have to write this between a diaper change, a One Direction sing along with my two older daughters, and Face Timing with the wife, but sure, I can get you a writeup.

Bill: Wow, lots going on. When do you think you will be able to send it?

Dave: Give me five minutes.

Bill: Wow, that will be quick....you can take more time.

Dave: Nah, I know what I want to say, was just hoping you would ask.

(Five minutes and 23 seconds later)

I like the Under in this game between the Blackhawks and the Capitals, which starts at 1:05 and will be shown on on NBC:

Dubbed the "sun monster" by Bryce Harper, the sun is a giant ball behind home plate that "swallows" fly balls and popups during the baseball season. With the expected forecast at Nationals Park being for sunny, clear skies and 36 degrees, there might even be a "sun delay" before or during the game. If it is too sunny the ice becomes slushy with water on top, and the game is played on a rink that you could equate to Notre Dame's field when they wouldn't cut if for the USC game. This contest will be slow, choppy, and have no flow. Play the Under.

(Can you imagine what he would have come up with if he had taken ten minutes?)

That is good enough for us...the Under gets the call in this one, and if you want to read more of Dave's musings about just about anything, check out his blog: https://bullshitterz.wordpress.com/

Have a Great Day!
